Dermatopathologists are physicians with advanced training in the interpretation of skin biopsies (samples of skin tissue that a dermatologist or plastic surgeon has removed from a patient). Dermatopathologists are typically trained first in dermatology or pathology before receiving additional accredited training in dermatopathology. They use microscopes and high-technology approaches to assess skin biopsies to determine if there is disease present.
